Apple Crumble
A traditional apple crumble made with cooking apples. This quantity makes a generous, family sized dessert although you could make 2 smaller crumbles and freeze one for another day.
Ingredients
- 600g cooking apples
- 150g caster sugar
- 6 tbsp water
- 300g Wessex Mill Plain White Flour
- 200g soft brown sugar
- 200g butter
Equipment
- 1 x 1.5lt/3-pint oven dish
- 1 x mixing bowl
Method
180°C, Fan 160°C, 350°F, Gas 4

Pre-heat the oven.

Peel, core and slice the apples into a 1.5lt/3-pint oven dish.

Add the caster sugar and water then stir to mix.

Bake the apples for 20 minutes.

Remove from the oven and stir.

Measure the flour and brown sugar into a mixing bowl.

Slice the butter into small cubes, add them to the bowl and using a fork, roughly mix it into the flour to create lumpy breadcrumbs.

Spread the flour mixture over the fruit.

Bake for 55-60 minutes.
